We’re still standing as the world turns

We’re still experiencing aftershocks from the earthquake that hit here. Our Big House survived with some cracks suddenly appearing in walls. But never fear our home is built on four to six feet of solid limestone backfill. My wife Belinda was working outside when the quake hit in full force but thank God she wasn’t hurt.  Well, you know what hit the fan. Windows started rattling, all kinds of things flying from our cabinets, and I knew something wasn’t just right. It makes you humble, and shows you whose the boss is. The weather has cooled down that helps make life more bearable. No air conditioners pumping cold air as we try to breath. I read the news reports before I post them for you, I must admit to you that world is a sad place – but as they say as the world turns.  But never fear there is always to tomorrow. Never rest in serving God. If problems come in your way, go on. If people try to destroy your faith, hold on. For as long as God is there with you, there will always be a light, a hope, a way. Make every moment full of love and hope from God for we are blessed beyond measure. To me it’s a question of drawing a line in the sand and that line is based on not accepting any bad behavior. Better to walk away from an impending train wreck than to be in one. The Yo-Yo Game goes as the House Republican leaders abandoned a plan to hold a vote on a new proposal to re-open the government and hike the debt ceiling Tuesday night, pushing the U.S. government closer to a default amid continued GOP disagreement over how to end the high-stakes budget standoff game goes on in Washington. The death toll from a 7.2-magnitude earthquake that struck the central Philippine island of Bohol reached 110 Wednesday with only three people pulled alive from rubble. The three were rescued in nearby Cebu province hours after Tuesday’s quake shattered office buildings and homes and caused many centuries-old churches to crumble.  Beyond having to deal with six world powers making demands on his country’s nuclear program, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has another pressing problem: back pains so intense he’s had to use a wheelchair. Zarif heads the Iranian delegation at key talks this week with the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany. I’ll trade my back pains any day! Shouting “murderer” and “executioner,” hundreds of people jeered the remains of Nazi war criminal Erich Priebke as his coffin arrived Tuesday for a funeral Mass celebrated by a splinter Catholic group opposed to Vatican outreach to Jews. Ever since Priebke died Friday at age 100, debate has raged over what to do with his remains, with Pope Francis’ vicar for Rome refusing him a funeral in a Catholic Church. Priebke participated in one of the worst massacres in German-occupied Italy during World War II, the slaughter of 335 civilians at the Areatine Caves outside Rome.

The Philippine Supreme Court, in a move that caught administration officials by surprise, issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) last September 10 stopping further releases of funds from the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) and the President’s Social Fund (PSF). Also covered in the TRO are releases from the Malampaya Fund, which President Benigno Aquino III had used in projects that had nothing to do with “financing energy resource development and exploitation programs and projects of the government” as required by law.

Politicians; They are all fat cats no doubt have secured all their investments and as usual just playing a game that politicians do and only they win with no concern at all for their voters. The deadline for hitting the debt ceiling is tomorrow and there is no happy ending yet… the government still has enough money to last a couple of weeks but this has already gone much further than sane and rational people expected. Personally I think the Republicans are hoping to make the Democrats look bad for next years mid term elections especially Obama whom they detest.

What I don’t understand is none of the Americans are worried about their Social Security/pensions being stopped surely with the Fed government being closed and America if they do default America is bankrupt. Or am I missing something here.

“It does not matter how many say it cannot be done or how many people have tried it before; it is important to realize that whatever you are doing, it is your first attempt at it.” May the peace of the Lord be with you always. Uncle Chuck
