Did you say corruption?

Hello friends the people of Bohol in the wake of the 7.2 magnitude on the Richter scale earthquake that hit the island let’s imagine if so much funds weren’t lost to corruption or, for instance, local and/or government politicians. Plunderers in government rob us of our lifetime fortune and strip the Filipinos of their dignity; rapacious “pork barrel” scam artists run away not only with their hard-earned money, but also steal the future of the children. The mayhem is horrifically scandalous to me and you bet it is on a colossal scale. Be the smile that cheers up those who have no courage. Be the sun that gives energy to others. Keep on inspiring people to do good and be better.

Some tell me about their solar hot water heaters.  The water heaters they tell me about seem to be a black plastic bag, filled with water, heated by the suns rays and then the water is slowly released over their hides as the scrub down.

Billions of dollars in U.S. gear destroyed, then sold as Afghan scrap 20 Oct 2013 the armored trucks, televisions, ice cream scoops and nearly everything else shipped here for America’s war for the CIA’s opium routes are part of the world’s biggest garage sale. Every week, as the U.S. troop drawdown accelerates, the United States is selling 12 million to 14 million pounds of its equipment on the Afghan market. Returning that gear to the United States from a landlocked country halfway around the world would be prohibitively expensive, according to U.S. officials. Instead, they’re leaving behind $7 billion worth of supplies. The equipment is being destroyed before it’s offered to the Afghan people — to ensure that treadmills, air-conditioning units and other rudimentary appliances aren’t used to make roadside bombs. [And are these Big Shots going to cut Social Security in exchange for replacing ‘defense’ cuts in the sequester?]

Heavy rain at the Fukushima nuclear plant caused a leak of radioactive water containing a cancer-causing isotope, possibly into the sea, its operator said Monday, as a typhoon approaching Japan threatened further downpours. The leak is the latest in a long line of setbacks at the site, and further undermines agreements between operator Tokyo Electric Power (TEPCO) and the government which limit the level of radioactive contamination in water that goes outside the plant.

US-led soldier killed in south Afghanistan20 Oct 2013 A US-led soldier with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) has been killed in a bomb attack in southern Afghanistan, the military alliance says. “An International Security Assistance Force service member died following an improvised explosive device attack in southern Afghanistan today,” ISAF said in a statement released on Sunday. The bomb blast came after Taliban leader Mullah Omar warned on October 13 that a potential security pact between the United States and Afghanistan would have grave consequences for the “invaders and their allies.”

Heads up!DOD undertakes massive inoculation effort 20 Oct 2013 The Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago had already administered 17,000 flu vaccines to active duty military, their dependents, veterans and its staff even before it held a walk-in flu clinic last Saturday. All active duty military are required to receive the flu vaccine, which is also offered free to their dependents, veterans and Department of Defense health care workers. A steady stream young and old visited the free clinic at Lovell, the first DOD medical center in the nation to offer care for active duty military, their dependents and also to veterans.
