Orcas in Active Pass, Galiano Island BC – Canada

Published on Aug. 25, 2013

Orcas in Active Pass off the shores of Galiano Island.
The spot is not far from ‘In The Bluff’ and the Galiano Inn & Spa.

The video was recorded on Sunday, August 25, 2013 from the shore on Galiano Island. Although we saw the whales approach Active Pass from another location, we had no idea how many whales were in this group. We were very fortunate to see the super pod consisting of the J, K and L resident Orca pods that feed on local fish. There could have been over 80 Orca Whales. They do not eat seals and, contrary to their other name “killer whales”, they do not eat people
