Thunder storm strikes

Good morning friends, last night as the day closed we experienced a thunder storm as if God was speaking to us from heaven. No wind howled and no wolves howled from a distance. Just the sound of thunder bolts striking the ground. Have you ever ask yourself, “How many stars are there in the sky?” Right after the October 15 earthquake that laid waste to much of Bohol, residents of this remote northern barangay noticed a long earthen wall that suddenly appeared in their community. To think for us American expats not living in the states, Obamacare should not have any impact whatsoever on expats in the Philippines. No one here is speaking of our recent earthquake – I wonder why. Jollibee is a popular fast food restaurant here in the Philippines. A favorite gathering place were friends and families socialize while enjoy their meal. Jollibee’s is always full of happy smiling folks it beats Happy Meals hands down. My wife heard from Junior way early this morning; all is well but I think he misses Cebu. Friends, with each passing of each year, I have reached the point that there isn’t anything that I really want that I cannot get here in Danao. We once had a helper by the name Gina. At times she acted like she had landed in our front yard in a UFO. No, she wasn’t a space cadet. No, she wasn’t. But she seemed to operate on one brain cell and her reptiles were always the same with, “Yes Uncle Chuck.” I’ve discovered most folks here are addicted to their cell phones or TV soaps or maybe to both. I always suspected that she stayed up late at night with her glued to the tube or she was from Mars.  Beam me up.

With the lack of official documentation has made estimates of the total number of comfort women difficult, as vast amounts of material pertaining to matters related to war crimes and the war responsibility of the nation’s highest leaders were destroyed on the orders of the Japanese government at the end of the war. Historians have arrived at various estimates by looking at surviving documentation which indicate the ratio of the number of soldiers in a particular area to the number of women, as well as looking at replacement rates of the women.

CEBU, Philippines – In line with the celebration of the Consumer Welfare Month, the Food and Drugs Administration has strongly warned the public on the use of industrial grade coloring dyes by food processors as three products were found to be positive of “rhodamine” sold in grocery stores in Cebu.

A Hindu saint who was visiting river Ganges to take bath found a group of family members on the banks, shouting in anger at each other. He turned to his disciples smiled and asked. “Why do people shout in anger shout at each other?” Disciples thought for a while, one of them said, “Because we lose our calm, we shout.” “But, why should you shout when the other person is just next to you? You can as well tell him what you have to say in a soft manner,” asked the saint.

Try to see what no one else has seen. Try to think what no one else has thought.  Then you will be what no one else has been. May the peace of the Lord be with you always, Uncle Chuck
